Elliott Abrams gives thumbs down on Obama's Libya speech: "The administration has followed its near silence over Iran in June 2009 and its wavering on Egypt last month with days of silence on Libya. Finally the president has spoken and said next to nothing. For a superpower this is an embarrassment. Belgium and Luxembourg can consult and coordinate and monitor; can we do no more? How about sending Stuart Levey (leaving Treasury soon but still there) off to get freezes on all Qaddafi family assets? Instead of sending Hillary Clinton to the Human Rights Council, how about sending the Marine commandant or the chief of staff of the Air Force to NATO headquarters? Perhaps that message would be a bit more likely to capture Qaddafi's attention. How about demanding indictments of Qaddafi for war crimes right now?"
Tim Pawlenty gives thumbs down to Obama's dithering. "Far too often, when President Obama is confronted by significant foreign policy challenges, he wavers, leaving those fighting on the side of freedom to question America's commitment to their cause. This was the case with the administration's response to recent events in Egypt. It was only after Hosni Mubarak's fate was clear that the President got behind the courageous men and women gathered in Tahrir Square. Now, the Libyan people have taken to the streets to free themselves from the despotic reign of Muammar al-Qaddafi and peaceful protesters have been literally gunned down. Yet the President remains silent, unwilling or unable to speak with moral clarity about America's interest in supporting the aspirations of all who seek freedom."
Phil Klein gives thumbs down on the prankster's attempt to embarrass Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) by imitating David Koch. "Throughout the call, Walker explains why he believes what he's doing is right, and that he intends to stand firm. 'This is about the budget,' he said. 'This is about public sector unions - hell, even FDR got it...You're essentially having taxpayers' money being used to lobby for spending more of taxpayers' money. It's absolutely ridiculous.'"
Mike Huckabee sure sounds like he's giving thumbs down on a presidential run. "If I run, I walk away from a pretty good income."
John Fund gives thumbs down on Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels's performance. "Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels did himself no favors with many conservatives yesterday in his response to a walk-out by Indiana state legislators protesting action on a right-to-work bill. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie may be facing down teacher unions, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker may be pushing back against public sector privileges, but Mr. Daniels has taken a 'kinder and gentler' approach."

The Obama administration gives up defending the Defense of Marriage Act, and social conservatives give thumbs down on raising a hot-button issue. "Michael Steel, a spokesman for Mr. Boehner, said: 'While Americans want Washington to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, the president will have to explain why he thinks now is the appropriate time to stir up a controversial issue that sharply divides the nation.'" Because there's an election coming up and the base is angry with him? (Well, that answer would have the benefit of honesty.)
Someone finally gives thumbs down to the Muslim Brotherhood's participation in government. "Since the beginning of the uprising in Egypt and the expected power shift in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic world has rallied around the Brotherhood and demanded that the West engage with them. But a crack in that unity appeared today when Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak said that the Muslim Brotherhood 'shouldn't be part of the process as long as they don't reject violence and extremism.'" Better than Condi Rice in 2006 (regarding Palestinian elections) and Obama in 2011
